ABS

CNC Routing FAQs
It allows for the precise cutting of materials such as wood, plastic, and metal to create custom shapes, letters, logos, and decorative elements. CNC routing can achieve intricate detailing, sharp edges, and consistent results, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor signage applications.
CNC is short for Computer Numerical Control. It is the automated control of machining tools using a computer. Computer Numerical Control automates the path of the router. The machine follows specific sets of computer instructions in processing the material.
CNC routers are generally designed for lower to moderate cutting speeds, as they are commonly used for softer materials like wood and plastics. Then again, CNC mills are built to handle higher cutting speeds and heavier cutting forces, making them suitable for harder materials such as metals.
Most industrial level CNC’s can, on a single axis hold about 0.01mm if they’re well-built. A good, square, rigid router that is properly calibrated/aligned can hold. 01mm all day. a 5 Axis with good rotaries can hold.
These routers typically have a gantry-style construction (with a horizontal support beam or structure) where the spindle (the main cutting tool) will move in two directions—left and right along the x-axis, and back and forth on the y-axis—to cut or carve material in the right shape and design.
